 Rules for RPing
« Thread Started on Mar 1, 2005, 6:44pm »

These are the basic rules for RPing. Some are already in the Rules thread, others are only for RPs.

1.) Please post 200 characters each time. If I don't, you can all shame me cause I'm supposed to be setting a good example.

2.) Write everything in full sentences, as if you were writing a story. Makes it much easier to read.

3.) Please remember to check your grammer. I can't be checking everything's okay all the time so help out by making sure everything is grammatically correct. I'm not gonna shoot you if it's a small spelling error though. Such as spelling... I dunno... 'psychopathic' wrong. Just make sure it's understandable.

4.)No god-moding (controlling other people's actions). You can if the person is not involved in the RP (like I control Tidus because there's no Tidus on the board), but otherwise, no.

5.) Please use punctuation for whatever you write. It's a right royal pain for the admins and mods to keep reminding you and editing you posts. Please keep note of this rule.

6.) DON'T KEEP CONTINUING ON RP FROM ONE THREAD TO ANOTHER. New members have no idea what's going on if you do that.

7.) Don't post in one RP more than 4 TIMES A DAY because, like continuing one RP to another, no one else can keep up. Thank you.

8.) Just stick to these rules. There here to make member's time on the board fun so please don't ruin it for everyone.

Okay. That's all. Thank you for taking up the time to read this.

The RP Rules have just been updated, so please take a look at them. The post minimum is now 200 characters, because I can't STAND reading these tiny posts. Usually they don't add anything to the RP.

God-moding - Controlling other people's actions. It's the technical term for it used by most RPers.

We all make little mistakes and I'm fine with that... it's just like when people write posts like THIS that I get annoyed [image] This is an example of one I've seen before:-

[image] Grrrr... and as much as I realise people from everywhere will be on here, I didn't say wording had to be PERFECT, just so long as it was UNDERSTANDABLE. If you can't read a post, how are you supposed to reply to it? Simple. You can't.

Exactly! And you're just sort of sitting there, reading this post which is completely off-topic and thinking "What the hell are they blathering on about?". It boggles the mind at how someone can post something and not think to check it through. If it doesn't make sense at the time of post, there's a simple remedy - it's the power of the 'Edit' button [image]

err... yeah... but it was mostly because they totally can't speak English well... They were trying to make their piece cool and the words just didn't make sense together.. it's the problem when they think in their own language and they translate it to English or any other language!

Hehe. Yeah! I know! I mean, if you looked at something in Japanese and translated all the words in the order they appeared, you'd probably find the whole sentence backwards! [image]

Actually, this reminds me of that one French project I had to do... I was lazy and couldn't be bothered to look up all the words, so I did a French translation on a French Translator (English - French). Anyway, the teacher took a look at it, and asked me to do another piece on something different. This time I did it all from my book, and typed in everything I'd written in my book to see what it translated into (French - English). It came up as a jumble of words which made no sense whatsoever! Rules 7 and 1..

I'm sorry If I'm a bother once more..but lately people hav'nt really been following them. I know I'm not a mod but Im sure I'm not the only one that's been bothered by this lately. Mostly 7..I've seen people post 2 whole pages within 10 minutes and that dosn't give anyone else a chance to jump in and such.

And about some people not speaking good english..I don't even naturally speak English and I can still type decent.

Just thought I'd throw that in there.
